Large, open fields can be difficult subjects to photograph. It can be compared to taking a photograph of a blank white wall. When having an issue like this, there are normally two solutions. Look bigger, or look smaller. In this photograph, I looked for a smaller subject, the rock. There are also two other options, but they require more work: Look harder, or wait for a better light.
